Samuel Goldwyn Acquires 'People V. the State of Illusion'

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired U.S. rights to “People V. the State of Illusion,” from award-winning director Scott Cervine. The documentary, made in the vein of “What the Bleed Do We Know!??,” explores the science of power of our perceptions and imagination.

Here’s the synopsis per Samuel Goldwyn:

“People V. the State of Illusion” is set in the notorious “Old Main Prison” of the New Mexico State Penitentiary and tells the story of Aaron Roberts, a single father who is arrested and tried on charges following an incident that claims the life of a woman.  Aaron is convicted at trial and sent to the state penitentiary and his daughter becomes a ward of the State.  While there, an attorney learns of her plight and decides to represent her in an innovative and emotionally compelling case against the State.  This inspiring film explores the science and power of perception and imagination as well as the prison walls of habitual thought and behavior that all of us create. Ultimately, it documents the evidence that answers the central questions raised: “what is real?” and “can we really change?”

Expect to see it in select theaters in March.
