Sony Pictures Worldwide has acquired all domestic and select international rights to an untitled project from Sebastian Silva (“The Maid”), starring Michael Cera, Juno Temple, Emily Browning and Catalina Sandino Moreno.
The film will star Juno as an American woman vacationing in Chile with her friends, who begins to mentally unravel.
Cameras are set to roll early this year for the thriller.

SONY PICTURES WORLDWIDE ACQUISITIONS ACQUIRES ALL MEDIA RIGHTS TO UNTITLED SEBASTIAN SILVA THRILLER STARRING MICHAEL CERA, JUNO TEMPLE, EMILY BROWNING AND CATALINA SANDINO MORENO
Culver City, CA (February 17, 2012) – Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) has pre-bought all domestic media rights (U.S. and Canada), as well as international territories including Latin America, Scandinavia, South Africa, Eastern Europe, to the UNTITLED SEBASTIAN SILVA THRILLER, starring Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad), Juno Temple (Dirty Girl), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full of Grace). The film is written and directed by Sebastián Silva, whose acclaimed film, The Maid, won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance and was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes.
The deal was made by SPWA’s Executive Vice President of Business Affairs, Michael Helfand, and Lejo Pet, Acquisitions Director, along with The Exchange team Brian O’Shea and Laura Ivey, as well as UTA’s Rich Klubeck, Bec Smith and Jacqui Schock. The Exchange is selling all international territories of the film along with Marina Fuentes of 6 Sales.
Silva’s film tells the chilling story of a young American woman (Temple) vacationing with her friends in a remote part of Chile, who begins to mentally unravel and enters into a world of disturbing landscapes and crushing terror. A destabilizing, psychological thriller recalling the best works in the genre, the film entices viewers into a world they won’t soon be able to forget.
The film is produced by Frida Torresblanco (Pan’s Labyrinth) of Braven Films, which is also fully financing the film, Christine Vachon (Far from Heaven) of Killer Films, and Mike White (Nacho Libre) and David Bernad (Enlightened) of Rip Cord Productions.
Currently in pre-production, the film is set to begin principal photography in early 2012.
