Twitter Responds to Oscar's Muppets Diss

Since yesterday’s announcement on Deadline that this year’s Best Original song nominees will not be performed at the Academy Awards, Muppet fans have taken to Twitter to encourage the Academy to rethink their decision.

Muppets advocate Judd Apatow has told fans to tweet @TheAcademy to allow the Muppets to perform. The ceremony’s musical directors, composer Hans Zimmer and rapper Pharrell Williams, have not expressly commented on the Muppet snub, but Williams told “The New York Times” that he and his partner are “thinking beyond the usual standards” regarding their plans.

“Man or Muppet” from “The Muppets” is one of the only two nominees in the category; “Real in Rio” from “Rio” holds the other spot.
