Award-Winning French Buddy Comedy "Intouchables" Makes USA Premiere TONIGHT In NYC. Got Tickets?

A reminder…

On the heels of his historic César Award win for Best Actor a week ago, the film Omar Sy won the award for – the box office record-setting dramedy Intouchables, is making its USA premiere tonight in New York City.

The 17th edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the Film Society of Lincoln Center here in NYC and Unifrance Films’ celebrated annual showcase of the best in contemporary French film, hits screens at The Film Society, the IFC Center and BAMcinématek, from March 1-11. More than two dozen New York premieres will be showcased during the series, including the aforementioned sensation Intouchables.

One of the film’s stars, Francois Cluzet will be in NYC for the event (I was hoping Omar Sy would be, but I believe he’s shooting another film right now).

In the meantime, if you’ve been at all curious about Intouchables as I have (after all the hype, the awards, the controversy, debate, etc), and you live in NYC, here’s your chance to see it first!

I hear tickets are selling fast for tonight’s premiere; but you should know that it’ll screen twice – tonight, and again at the IFC Center on March 4th.

I should also add that it’s been officially announced that The Weinstein Company will indeed release the original film stateside (they acquired release and remake rights to it last year). A May 2012 release is planned, likely limited at first. So, even if you miss the NYC screening, and you can’t make it to this Sunday’s screening at IFC, you might be able to see it in May.
