Ben Affleck Is 'Nathan Decker' In Political Comedy At Warner Bros. Penned By 'Crazy Stupid Love' Writer Dan Fogelman

Warner Bros. is continuing its love affair with Ben Affleck. With the actor/director dropping the hit “The Town” for the studio a few years back and now in post on his upcoming “Argo,” it seems they are eager to keep him working under their roof and have now signed him up for a lead role in a political comedy.

Affleck will star in “Nathan Decker,” a project first snapped up by the studio last year as a vehicle for Tom Cruise. Penned by “Crazy Stupid Love” writer Dan Fogelman, the story follows a politician who gets caught in an affair. With his reputation in tatters, he returns to his hometown to lick his wounds, repair relationships and confront his past. So, a little bit of drama, some laughs and a comment on the political system all rolled into one? Sure sounds like it. And damn, when was the last time we saw Affleck doing something funny? Feels like it’s been ages.

This is probably still in early stages — no director is attached at the moment — but this will be a nice change of pace for the director, who between shooting a movie with Terrence Malick, getting gritty in Boston and retelling a lively Iranian hostage tale, could probably do with something lighter.
