Clive Owen Doesn't Know What's Going On With 'Sin City 2'; Says 'Trouble Is My Business' Is Dead

In a film of standout moments and colorful characters, Clive Owen was hard to forget as the noble Dwight in “Sin City.” Dwight makes a few appearances in Frank Miller‘s “Sin City” comic world, so it would only make sense that Owen would reprise the role, even if his character repeatedly undergoes excessive transformations. But if “Sin City 2” were to shoot this summer as Robert Rodriguez is now aiming for, then the director will need to get on the phone.

We recently sat to talk with Owen in regards to his new thriller, “Intruders,” and asked him about the highly anticipated sequel. “We never really talked about it,” Owen says of his relationship with Rodriguez and “Sin City 2”. “I still speak to Rob occasionally. But I really don’t know where that’s at.” If Rodriguez wants to procure Owen’s services, he’ll have to wait for helmer Guillaume Canet to be done with him first, as he has Owen slated to star in “Blood Ties.” The thriller, which Owen begins a two-month shoot in New York City in April, is “based on two brothers, one’s a criminal that’s just gotten out of jail, and the other’s a cop. It’s about the complications that ensue when the brother goes back to his old ways. I play the [criminal] who’s just gotten out of jail.”

One project that Owen won’t be joining is Spike Lee‘s remake of “Oldboy,” sadly for very mundane reasons. “Purely a scheduling thing,” he says of his decision to turn down the villain role in the adaptation. “I had committed to something else. But I’m a huge fan of Spike, and I’d jump at the opportunity to work with him again.” You also haven’t heard much from Owen’s Philip Marlowe adaptation “Trouble Is My Business,” which is likely dead. As it goes in the industry, Owen shrugged, “That’s gone pretty quiet. It never quite came together.”

We’ll have more from Clive Owen about “Intruders” soon. The film opens on March 30th.
