Congrats to 'The Real Mikado,' Indiewire's Project of the Week!

Thanks to your votes, the backstage comedy “The Real Mikado” won this weekend’s Project of the Week contest!

Congratulations to “The Real Mikado” director Joyce Wu. The filmmaker will receive a digital distribution consultation from SnagFilms and the film is now officially a candidate for Project of the Month. That winner will be awarded with a consultation from the Sundance Institute.

Here’s what the project’s about:

An out of work Asian-American actress in New York runs out of money and moves back in with her parents in the suburbs of Detroit. Her hometown is facing a budget crisis and threatens to shut down the community theater so she agrees to direct a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado” to try and save it.

Four more Projects of the Day coming this week. Want your project to be considered? Tell us all about it.
