'Justified' Will Be Back For a Fourth Season

Justified” and everyone’s lovable, hat-wearing bastard of a U.S. Marshal, Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), will be back for another season. FX announced yesterday that they were ordering 13 more episodes of the series, to air in 2013.

The contemporary Western/Kentucky noir was created by Graham Yost and based on a character from Elmore Leonard. It’s become one of FX’s signature shows and my personal favorite of their crop of high-testosterone dramas like “The Shield,” Rescue Me,” “Sons of Anarchy” and “Lights Out.”

According to Yost: “There are many reasons all of us on ‘Justified’ are grateful to get a chance to do another season. We get to do more work with amazing actors, writers, producers, directors, musicians, editors and a jaw-droppingly talented crew. We get to keep doing a show that appeals to a wide demographic: people in Harlan, retired US Marshals, criminals (we honestly did hear that), and, most happily, our guide, our muse, Elmore Leonard. Best of all, we get to keep doing a show on FX (and while that may sound like craven ass-kissing, when you look at their roster, you can’t help but feel grateful to be on that list).”

“Justified” is in the middle of its third season right now, with episodes airing Tuesdays at 10pm — the finale’s slated for April 10. Margo Martindale won an Emmy for her role as Mags Bennett, last season’s memorable antagonist, and this season sees the addition of Neal McDonough and Mykelti Williamson.

Also award-worthy? The Emmy-nominated theme song “Long Hard Times to Come,” from Gangstagrass. Here’s the complete track, for your hip-hop/banjo enjoyment:
