OWN Doc "Tent City, USA" Gets Official Release Date (Homeless Citizens Run For Office)

The OWN original documentary which we first told you about 2 weeks ago, will premiere on the network on Thursday April 5 from 9PM – 11PM EST/PST.

As previously noted, the film takes on a unique twist on one of the most challenging aspects of the recent recession: homelessness.

Titled Tent City, USA, the doc explores a community of nearly 100 homeless people living under a downtown bridge in Nashville, TN, who work to stay together after a devastating flood destroys their land and forces them to evacuate.

As a result of the disaster the municipally run Homeless Commission opens one seat on its council to a resident of Tent City.

Tent City USA follows the four candidates as they vie for election and the process of moving the camp and keeping the community together.
