Watch Jennifer Lawrence Be Ridiculously Adorable on David Letterman

For a variety of uninteresting reasons, this blog took a two week dormancy: But wes be back. And with a generally anticlimactic post.

Like a bajillion other people, I saw “The Hunger Games” this weekend with 14-year-old-girl-in-me anticipation.  Unlike the “Harry Potter” or “Twilight” movies (which I’ll admit I’ve never even seen), I felt a genuine part of this phenomenon, having read the book in one glorious 10 hour sitting and  admittedly anticipating each trailer and batch of stills from the film.

Unfortunately, my anticipation simply resulted in major disappointment when I walked out of the film feeling once again left out of a mainstream cultural who-ha. Why did people seem to like this movie? The whole thing just felt so disjointed, half-assed and toned down… boring, even.

I’m not sure what I expected. Gary Ross-directed? PG-13? Groomed to make mainstream millions and millions? It was sure to feel like a watered down version of a book that itself was a watered down version of “Battle Royale” (but was at least exciting).

It’s major saving grace, though? Jennifer Lawrence. She gives everything she’s got to Katniss, and if one good thing comes of this “Hunger Games” explosion, it’s her warranted superstardom.  And if you’ve yet to be won over in a significant way, watch this interview from David Letterman last week. Humble, sincere, funny, adorably dorky… Especiallly at the 8:55 mark:
