Woody Allen May Go To Copenhagen For His Next Movie

Lest you think winning an Oscar for Best Screenplay for “Midnight In Paris,” taking a starring role in the upcoming comedy “Fading Gigolo” and preparingBullets Over Broadway” for the musical stage has kept Woody Allen from keeping his eye on his next movie, guess again. With Europe continuing to inspire a late career rebound with movies set in London, Paris, Barcelona and Rome (“Nero Fiddled“), it’s no shocker that the helmer is once again looking overseas as the setting for his next outing.

THR reports that his longtime producer (and sister) Letty Aronson is currently in talks with Danish producer Per Holst about brining the writer/director’s next movie to Copenhagen for a 2013 shoot. But, we’ll see how this plays out. Over the summer, Munich was revelead as also being in the mix and frankly, it’ll probably come down to whichever city can offer up the best financial incentives to the production. And as long ago as 2009, Rio De Janierio was rumored as another potential location and with Brazil continuing to court Hollywood (“Fast Five” was largely made in the country while “Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” had a big premiere there) we’d guess it could still be a contender. And who knows what other cities are sending reps to try and woo Allen to make a glamorous portrait of their skylines.

All that said, wherever Woody goes next we’ll follow him but it looks like 2013 will be the first year since 1981 in which we haven’t had an annual Allen movie.
