Be Afraid: Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes Reportedly Circling The 'Halloween' Franchise

Perhaps this isn’t too much of a surprise. It was only a few weeks ago that The Weinstein Company (the parent branch of Dimension Films) took “Halloween 3D” off the calendar (it was slated for October 26th). With no confirmed cast or director, it simply wasn’t going to happen. And it seems Harvey and Bob are calling in some help to get this thing made.

In what they assure is not an April Fool’s Day joke, Bloody Disgusting reported over the weekend that according to their sources, Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes is in talks to produce the next “Halloween” movie. Of course, the production is well versed in cranking out cheap, grimy looking reboots of famed horror franchises having delivered the forgettable likes of “The Amityville Horror,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Friday The 13th” and “A NIghtmare On Elm Street.” We presume the franchise will get the same careless treatment here. Oh, and one more thing. Directorial duo Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (“My Bloody Valentine,” “Drive Angry“), long attached to direct, are apparently no longer involved. Meanwhile, STYD add that Platinum Dunes is just one of a handful of companies kicking the tires on the project…so there is still hope yet…

No word yet on when this might hit theaters but we presume development will start over from scratch, so it may be a while yet before we see this guy back up on the big screen.
