The gorgeous international trailer for “A Prophet” director Jacques Audiard’s “Rust & Bone”, co-starring Marion Cotillard (“Inception”) and Matthias Schoenaerts (“Bullhead”), reveals a moody, dark, subtle tone. (If you want a translation of this trailer, which is sans subtitles, The Playlist posts a rough translation of the voiceover.)
Based on short stories from Canadian author Craig Davidson, “Rust & Bone” features Cotillard as a killer whale trainer at an amusement park who gets involved in a relationship with a homeless fighter (Schoenaerts).
Sony Picture Classics will distribute the film in the US, but no premiere date has been selected yet: we’re expecting Audiard’s film to be included in the Cannes announcement on April 19, as it opens in France on May 17.
