Watch: No Subtitles? No Matter! International Trailer for Jacques Audiard's 'Rust & Bone' Is Very Promising

The first trailer for “Rust & Bone” — Jacques Audiard’s follow-up to “A Prophet” starring Marion Cotillard and “Bullhead” breakout Matthias Schoenaerts — hit the web today and it’s a thing of beauty. The fact that it’s in French without subtitles is besides the point; there’s no denying this looks very promising.

The two-hander drama, adapted from short stories by Canadian author Craig Davidson, centers on Stephanie (Cotillard), a whale trainer at Marineland, who loses her legs in a horrific accident. Schoenaerts, still sporting his massive “Bullhead” frame, plays Ali, a down-on-his-luck father who helps Stephanie regain her strength and sense of self.

The film opens in France May 17, a day after the Cannes Film Festival kicks off. Sony Pictures Classics, who are distributing the film, have yet to announce a release date for North America.
