Mads Mikkelsen To 'Move On' With Asger Leth, Agyness Deyn & Peter Mullan Lead Terence Davies' 'Sunset Song' & More

Versatile Danish thesp Mads Mikkelsen is set to team with “Man On A Ledge” helmer Asger Leth for road film “Move On.” Developed by Matt Greenhalgh (screenwriter of “Control” and “Nowhere Boy“), the story begins with a flawed hero, stepping off a boat in Rotterdam before traveling across Europe to deliver a mysterious silver suitcase. Lensing will take the production across eight different countries in a hectic 30-day chronological shoot, and will unusually involve the participation of film fans from 11 countries in areas such as casting, location and props. More details can be found at the film’s website, but each country’s shoot will make up a 5-8 minute segment of the movie, with a shoot commencing this summer before a September unveiling. After debuting in the upcoming remake of Nicolas Winding Refn‘s “Pusher,” and an acclaimed run on London’s West End, model Agyness Deyn is moving up in the acting world. Deyn will feature opposite “Tyrannosaur” star Peter Mullan in Terence Davies next project, an adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbons‘ 1932 Scottish classic “Sunset Song.” Deyn presumably takes the lead role of Chris Guthrie, a farmer’s daughter who struggles to find love amidst hardship and family dysfunction. Davies has been developing the adaptation for years, however, the dark nature of the material has made it difficult for him to find the backing. Lensing is eyeing a late 2012 or early 2013 shoot. Production is underway on Bong Joon-ho‘s adaptation of French graphic novel “Snow Piercer” with the addition of one more cast member. Dutch actress Emma Levie joins with only one credit to her name; Christophe Van Rompaey‘s little known “Lena,” in which Levie plays the titular role. She joins a stellar cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Song Kang-ho, Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer, Ewan Bremner and Kenny Doughty — all of whom are filming in the Czech Republic as we speak. We’re sure Bong was fine with Swinton popping over to the sunny beaches of Cannes for the premiere of “Moonrise Kingdom” yesterday. [FilmBizAsia]

Francois Cluzet and Guillaume Canet are set to rivet audiences with “Turning Tide,” a yacht-racing drama(!). Cluzet will play Yann Medec, a yachtman whose tries to win a race single-handedly until he discovers a young Senegalese stowaway on board. Canet plays the captain replaced by Cluzet last minute. Michael Youn begins filming this October on a €17 million budget. [ScreenDaily]

Kristin Scott Thomas will reunite with her “I Loved You So Long” helmer Phillipe Claudel for his latest project “Avant l’hiver.” The actress will star opposite Leila Bekhti and Daniel Auteil for the story of a successful 50-something with a perfect life and wife who falls for a younger woman. Production begins this fall. [ScreenDaily]
