Watch: French Language Trailer for Michael Haneke's Cannes Contender 'Amour'

Ahead of its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 20, the French language trailer for Michael Haneke’s latest Palme d’Or contender “Amour” has hit the web.

Returning to La Croisette after winning the coveted award in 2009 for “The White Ribbon,” “Amour” finds the auteur collaborating with Isabelle Huppert for the third time following “Time of the Wolf” and “The Piano Teacher,” which won Huppert the Best Actress award at Cannes.

Here’s the plot per Sony Pictures Classics who acquired the film for North American distribution last month:

In the film, Georges (Jean-Louis Trintignant) and Anne (Emmanuelle Riva) are in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter (Huppert), who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family.  One day, Anne has an attack. The couple’s bond of love is severely tested.
