Watch: The Lights Go Out in the Trailer for J.J. Abrams 'Revolution'

“It’s going to turn off and it’s going to never, ever turn back on.” All electricity goes away in NBC’s upcoming apocalyptic series from executive producers J. J. Abrams and Eric Kripke (of “Supernatural”), with Jon Favreau attached as a director (of, one presumes, at least the pilot episode). The network’s committed heavily to comedy in the upcoming season, with “Community,” “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation” all returning and a slew of new sitcoms, but “Revolution” is obviously the big bet in terms of drama, set 15 years after the incident, when the world has gone very “Life After People.”

The four-minute trailer below makes the scale of the show evident, and while it’s a little reminiscent of “The Walking Dead” without the walking dead, it’s an intriguing concept that makes it totally sensical for Billy Burke to do some swordfighting and for his niece to whip out her totally-having-a-moment crossbow.
