Wes Anderson Reveals One Character In His Next Film Will Be A “Personal Medium”

Wes Anderson Reveals One Character In His Next Film Will Be A "Personal Medium"

Things are going very well for Wes Anderson these days. The director not only unveiled his latest movie, “Moonrise Kingdom,” at the Cannes Film Festival, it opened this weekend in limited release to staggering, record-breaking numbers, boasting the highest per-screen averages in history. Not bad at all. And good news for fans is that he’s already cooking up his next project. During press rounds in Cannes, the director revealed that he had the screenplay complete for what would be “a Euro movie,” and that the picture will find him reuniting with frequent collaborator and friend Owen Wilson. And Anderson continues to parcel out info, now spilling a little bit about the movie’s premise.

“In my next film, the main character, who’s a bit crazy, has a personal medium [mind reader] whose assistant is a teenager. I’ll give the roles to more well known actors than the kids [in ‘Moonrise Kingdom’]. I’m still attached to my favorite actors even if I still don’t know who’ll play the main role in my next film,” Anderson told French magazine Les Inrockuptibles

So in essence, it seems Anderson’s penchant for oddbal characters will remain intact for his next go round, though it looks like he’s stepping somewhat (though probably comically) into the realm of the supernatural. And while Wilson is tipped for some kind of role, it remains to be seen if it’s for the lead or a supporting character at this point. Either way, it looks like another promising venture from the helmer whose schedule is already getting busier. As you might recall, he’s producing alongside Noah Baumbach the next effort from Peter Bogdanovich, “Squirrel To The Nuts,” with Owen Wilson, Olivia Wilde and Brie Larson set to star. Shooting on that picture is gearing up to begin this fall, but hopefully it won’t be another three-year wait until Anderson’s next effort.
