Educational Video Center To Honor SnagFilms

The Educational Video Center, a non-profit media organization dedicated to teaching documentary filmmaking to talented young people, will honor SnagFilms for its commitment to the documentary genre and for supporting and expanding the documentary field, tonight at Lincoln Center in Manhattan.

Since 1984, documentaries created by EVC students have won more than 100 national and international festival awards, and been featured on ABC, PBS, NBC, and at the Sundance Film Festival. Youth producers have gone on to create documentaries for the Whitney Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, and Academy Award and Sundance Award winning documentary directors, Alex Gibney and Eugene Jarecki.

Producer Cheryl Horner will also be honored at the benefit, which will additionally feature the premiere of two short documentaries from EVC’s student-producers, covering issues regarding disconnected youth and the NYPD’s controversial stop and frisk policy.
