‘Magic Mike’ The Musical Heading to Broadway

'Magic Mike' The Musical Heading to Broadway

Wasting no time, Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum are taking “Magic Mike” to the stage, where the film will be adapted into a musical. The duo are producing with Gregory Jacobs, Nick Wechsler and Reid Carolin, who wrote the screenplay and will tackle the stageplay. The hope is to have it on Broadway by the Summer of 2013.

Who knew Tatum’s days as a stripper would have such a rippled payoff? During the press day the star confirmed that “there’s nothing that’s factual in this whole movie other than I was an eighteen-year-old kid and went into this world and I dropped out of college and playing football and was living on my sister’s couch.” Alex Pettyfer plays the role that was inspired by real-life-young-Tatum. As for what he misses about the world “Magic Mike” represents, Tatum says “I don’t miss anything about this world.”
