Posters For Robert Zemeckis’ ‘Flight,’ Cate Shortland’s ‘Lore’ & David Ayer’s ‘End Of Watch’

Posters For Robert Zemeckis' 'Flight,' Cate Shortland's 'Lore' & David Ayer's 'End Of Watch'

Here’s a trio of posters from three very different helmers: one from a seasoned pro returning to live action after a stint in mo-cap, one following up a superb directorial debut with a foreign-language novel adaptation and the last a genre specialist tackling what he knows best.

First up is Robert Zemeckis‘ “Flight” which saw the first trailer drop this week. It looks like quite the character study for star Denzel Washington, who plays an alcoholic pilot who is heralded a hero after a plane accident. Of course, this being Zemeckis, there looks to a fair share of CGI action, with the last shot of the trailer showing a plane flying upside down. It looks like they must have blown the budget on the actual film, as the first poster is as simple as it gets. Not the worst but far from what’d you expect for a film starring one of the biggest box office draws. There’s also a strong supporting cast including Don Cheadle, Melissa Leo, John Goodman, Brian Geraghty, Kelly Reilly and Bruce Greenwood. The movie opens on November 2nd.

Next on the agenda is the return of Australia helmer Cate Shortland, who broke onto the scene with “Somersault” back in 2005. The film starred Abbie Cornish and Sam Worthington who both went onto bigger things and the helmer’s now back with “Lore,” an ambitious German-language adaptation of Rachel Seiffert‘s novella “Dark Room.” The poster sees newcomer Saskia Rosendahl strikingly front and center, featuring in the film as the daughter of an SS commander who must lead her four siblings on a 900km journey across the war-ravaged country to their grandparent’s place. The film will premiere at the Sydney Film Festival with a global festival run likely due after that.

Finally, we’ve got David Ayer‘s next cop-drama-actioner with “End Of Watch,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena. The gritty pic features an intimate, visceral, “in your face” POV shooting style and centers on two cops with a long-term friednship who find themselves delving into a world of drug cartel criminals that’s much more than they can handle. Ayer’s the writer of such films as “Training Day,” “The Fast & The Furious” and “S.W.A.T.” and has written and directed “Harsh Times” and “Street Kings” so expect something along those lines. Anna Kendrick, Cody Horn, America Ferrara and Frank Grillo co-star. [IMPAwards/IMPAwards/TransmissionFilms]
