Project of the Day: A Weekend Getaway is Actually a Dangerous Drug Deal in 'Stay'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Tweetable Logline:

When Ash invites his ex on a road trip to the Florida Keys, he doesn’t mention that their weekend getaway is actually a dangerous drug deal.

Elevator Pitch:

In order to make some quick cash, Ash agrees to deliver a mysterious suitcase to the Florida Keys. All he has to do is spend the night on an old houseboat and wait. But when Ash gets handed the keys to a slick car, he gets a dangerous idea… He decides to invite his ex-boyfriend along for the ride. Ash never mentions the real reason for the trip, but it doesn’t take long for Jacks to start putting the pieces together and hatching a plan of his own.

A short film about love and betrayal in life on the fringe.

Production Team:

Writer/Director: Brandon Zuck
Producers: Joanna Lagstein & Brian Love
Cinematographer: J. Wakayama Carey

About the Production:

“I’m fascinated by life outside normal boundaries- what it’s like for someone to fall through that looking glass and the kinds of relationships they find. It happens gradually and then suddenly. You cross one tiny line, and then another. And on your way across that line you meet someone else- another runaway. And so you run away together. And this might be your only bond at first, but somehow it has a strength that feels bigger than anything else. You spend enough time in the foxhole and suddenly you’re Bonnie and Clyde. It’s a hard thing to walk away from.” — Brandon Zuck
