Project of the Day: Horror with a Woman’s Touch

Project of the Day: Horror with a Woman's Touch

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Tweetable Logline:

After following a stripper home, three young men fight for their lives versus a “family” of cannibal women that live in a 50s pin-up world.

Elevator Pitch:

A post-feminist horror film, “Stripped” is all about turning the tables on the male versus female dynamic. Three young men on a birthday outing at a strip club, follow one of the girls home for a little after-hours party. Once inside, it appears as if they’re there just in time for dinner… only to learn that they are for dinner. It is a rare film that doesn’t make a choice between a woman being a “survivor” or a “monster”, it is a film where men are inconsequential. They are essentially just a food source or sexual tool for the women.

Production Team:

Executive Producer: Ruth Mutch
Co-Executive Producer: Debbi Berlin
Producers: John Stuart Wildman, Justina Walford, Farah White and Adam Dietrich
Director: John Stuart Wildman
Writers: Justina Walford and John Stuart Wildman

About the Production:

“‘Stripped’ is five years in the making. My wife and I are huge fans of Chan wook-Park’s Vengeance Trilogy (in fact, ‘Oldboy’ is our couple’s movie) and much of the recent French (‘Inside’) and Australian (‘The Loved Ones’) horror as well. And other than the work of the occasional filmmaker like Lucky McKee or Paul Solet, we haven’t seen films that excited us to that extent here in the states. Our goal with ‘Stripped’ is to achieve that level of high style, intensity and intelligence – not to simply offer up dread, tension and scares, but social debate as well.” – John Stuart Wildman
