While AMC’s adaptation of a Danish procedural “The Killing” has run for two seasons with mixed success, A&E is investing in a Scandinavian remake of its own.
According to Deadline, the network has purchased the US rights to and ordered a pilot made for “Those Who Kill,” a 2011 Danish crime drama based on the novels of Elsebeth Egholm and set within a fictitious unit in Copenhagen police force created to investigate serial murders. The original stars Laura Bach as a detective who works closely with a profiler played by Jakob Cedergren, and features a few actors who also appeared in the original “The Killing,” including Lars Mikkelsen.
“Those Who Kill” is structured around a run of cases instead of just one, like “The Killing,” which makes it closer to the more traditional US procedural in structure than AMC’s drama. “The X-Files” scripter Glen Morgan has been brought on to write the script for the pilot.
A&E recently greenlit “Psycho” prequel series “Bates Motel” to series.
