Lionsgate Picks 'Hunger Games' Sequel Release Dates

Not wasting any time, Lionsgate is pushing forward with three sequels to “Hunger Games,” which has already grossed more than $400 million domesticaly, much as its new motion picture chiefs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger did at Summit with the “Twilight” series. They’re even splitting the finale into two parts, “Twlight”-style.

“Catching Fire,” which starts filming in September with star Jennifer Lawrence and “Water for Elephants” director Frances Lawrence (no relation) at the helm, is set for release on November 22, 2013, followed by annual installments of the third book in the trilogy, split in two, “Mockinjay” 1 and 2, set for November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015. You can’t book these prime weekends too early.
