Spot The Difference: Uncanny New Image Of Sienna Miller As Tippi Hedren In Hitchcock Biopic 'The Girl'

Toby Jones must get a little frustrated when he starts making a biopic. The chameleonic character actor got the role of a lifetime when he played Truman Capote in “Infamous” (giving a terrific performance in the process), but despite a starry cast including Sandra Bullock and Daniel Craig, had his thunder stolen when the film’s release was delayed for nearly a year, allowing “Capote,” starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, to sweep in with acclaim, and an Oscar victory. More recently, Jones won the role of Alfred Hitchcock in “The Girl,” a BBC TV film that focuses on the relationship between the director and Tippi Hedren, the star of his film “The Birds,” only to see Anthony Hopkins unveiled, under some impressive prosthetic make-up, in the big screen biopic “Hitchcock.”

Still, we’re sure Jones’ performance will be terrific, and while “Hitchcock” has a cast including Scarlett Johansson, Helen Mirren and Jessica Biel,The Girl,” directed by Julian Jarrold (“Red Riding: 1974“) might just have a secret weapon: Sienna Miller, looking the spit of Hedren, as proven by  a new image obtained by Grazia (via JoBlo). Miller’s somewhat underrated as an actress (she was great in Steve Buscemi‘s “Interview,” and the little-seen “The Edge Of Love“), and at the very least, the resemblance is pretty much uncanny.

Hopefully the material (the script’s penned by “Five Days” writer Gwyneth Hughes) will give the two talents something to get their teeth stuck into, but the potential’s certainly there for something interesting, tackling a different side of the director to “Hitchcock.” The film will apparently air on the BBC in September, and while there’s no word yet on a U.S. airing, it’ll likely follow soon after. Could it get an airing at TIFF, as last year’s BBC drama “Page Eight” did?
