Tony Hale Feels Paul Feig's 'Heat'; Keri Russell Is Under 'Dark Skies' & Radha Mitchell Declares 'Olympus Has Fallen'

Having worked together on Paul Feig‘s sophomore directorial feature “Unaccompanied Minors,” as well as on episodes of “Arrested Development,” it seems Tony Hale has formed a pretty friendship with the director, and is now joining Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in the buddy cop comedy “The Heat.” While details on the plot are still unknown — and likely a bit in flux as Katie Dippold’s script is now getting a rewrite courtesy of Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (“Bad Teacher,” “The Office,” “Year One”) — if you add up McCarthy + Bullock + cop comedy, it should speak for itself. As for Hale, he’ll be playing a man arrested for soliciting a prostitute. “The Heat” is slated to hit theaters on April 5, 2013.

In case you’re wondering what Scott Stewart — the auteur behind “Legion” and “Priest” — is doing next, he’s helming the microbudget supernatural thriller “Dark Skies” from the producers behind “Insidious” and “Paranormal Activity.” No plot details at the moment, but Keri Russell — surprisingly — will star, so that’s somewhat interesting. Production begins this summer.

Finally, Antoine Fuqua‘s “Olympus Has Fallen” has added genre staple Radha Mitchell (“Silent Hill,” “The Crazies“) to the the presidential action flick. The movie finds the White House under attack, with the President taken hostage, with Gerard Butler set to save the day. Mitchell will play his wife in the film in what we suppose will add some kind of emotional element, with Aaron Echart and Angela Bassett also part of the cast. Of course, this movie is running against Roland Emmerich‘s “White House Down” with Channing Tatum, proving there’s no generic idea that Hollywood won’t try and do twice. Filming on “Olympus Has Fallen” kicks off next week. [Variety/Deadline/Deadline]
