In this week’s totally non-essential news item, here’s the trailer for the children’s film, The Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure, featuring a guest appearance by singer Toni Braxton, which opens on August 29th.
The film was actually shot in 2009, but is only now getting a theatrical release.
And just who or what in holy hell are the Oogieloves? Damned if I know. Couldn’t find out much about them or the film, except, judging from this trailer, they are some of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen. Most likely to induce horrific nightmares among kids, and many adults as well, instead of joy.
However, according to the official Oogielove website, they “live in LovelyLoveville, simply the most beautiful and joy filled place in the whole wide world. A place so lovely that, like a throwback to the 1950’s, all its inhabitants support and bring out the best in each other.“
UH OH. A throwback to the 1950’s? You mean everyone in LovelyLoveille looks like Mitt Ronmey, and there’s legal and enforced segregation, with black people forced to suffer daily soul-crushing indignities, like riding at the back of the bus?
No thanks, I’ll pass visiting this town.
