New Posters For 'Life Of Pi' & 'Trouble With The Curve' Unfurl

One film will take you on a journey across the ocean, while the other uses America’s greatest pastime to unite a father and daughter, so let’s get into a couple new posters that are hoping to bring your eyeballs at the multiplex.

First up, Ang Lee‘s “Life Of Pi” goes for the soulful glow in a new one-sheet that is actually pretty impressive, barring the the pretty boilerplate tagline. As you already know, the Oscar-baiting picture is an adaptation of Yann Martel‘s best-selling novel, is led by newcomer Suraj Sharma, and tells the story of the shipwrecked son of an Indian zookeeper who’s stuck on a lifeboat with a 450-pound bengal tiger in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Like we said, buzz has been very strong, but according to a since-removed post over at Hollywood Elsewhere, at least one early viewer from a test screening, who dropped a report to Jeff Wells, has said the film veers toward religious territory with a Deepak Chopra-esque vibe. Hmm….that’s….interesting…. We’ll soon find out what the critics think when the movie opens the New York Film Festival on September 28th. And you can see it yourself when it opens in theaters on November 21st.

Meanwhile, Clint Eastwood brings his grizzled mug back to the big screen for “Trouble With The Curve.” The film tells the story of an aging, slowly blinding baseball scout who goes on a roadtrip with his daughter (played by Amy Adams) to track one last prospect. Justin Timberlake pops by as comic relief/love interest material, and the whole thing doesn’t seem all that impressive, at least from the trailer, though your parents might like it we guess. And if they like it, that means the fogies at the Academy may as well, which could possibly push this into awards territory (though we kinda doubt it). “Trouble With The Curve” steps to the mound on September 21st.
