You can never predict what Michael Winterbottom will do next, as evidenced my his eclectic roster of work that inclues the brutal Southern noir “The Killer Inside Me,” the road trip comedy “The Trip,” his Mariane Pearle biopic “A Mighty Heart,” and his hardcore sex romp “9 Songs.” The prolific filmmaker will be in Toronto this year to world premiere his latest, “Everyday,” a relationship drama five years in the making. The festival just released the first teaser for the film, which you can watch below.
Cast with a mix of professionals (including John Simm and Shirley Henderson) and non-profesionals, “Everyday” tracks the relationship between a father — in prison for drug smuggling — his wife and their four children, over the course of five years. Winterbottom shot for that same period of time to realistically portray the family’s evolution.
The Channel 4 funded film will likely be showing on British television later in the year. No North American distrubtor has been announced of yet.
