HBO sister channel Cinemax still tends to be more associated with softcore late night content than original series, but the network is launching season two of its action drama “Strike Back” this Friday, August 17th. And Cinemax has a potentially higher profile project in the hopper for fall with “Transporter: The Series,” adapted from the Luc Besson-created character played in the film franchise by Jason Statham.
A US-French-German-Canadian coproduction, the TV “Transporter” finds Chris Vance taking on the small screen incarnation of the lead character and “Lost” director Stephen Williams helming the pilot. The series has already seen a few showrunner switch-ups, which is potentially signals problems — the trailer, below, has the kind of rootless sensibility common to multinational co-productions being created with several markets in mind.
