As part of Universal’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration, the Academy unveils the “Universal’s Legacy of Horror” film series in October, with director-cinephile Guillermo del Toro hosting the kickoff double feature screening of “Bride of Frankenstein” and “Dracula” on October 2. Tippi Hedren will also appear in person with “The Birds” on October 23, just two days after “The Girl” premieres on HBO, in which Sienna Miller plays Hedron. At the television critics’ HBO panel, Hedron called Hitchcock “evil and deviant,” so we have something to look forward to.
A free exhibition of rare posters, stills and other artifacts from Universal’s horror heyday will be on display in the Academy’s grand lobby, concurrently with the film series.
