Buy Yourself a Role on ‘Mad Men’ (For Charity)

Buy Yourself a Role on 'Mad Men' (For Charity)

If you’re at all a fan of “Mad Men,” then you’ve probably entertained some thought about what your place in the world of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce would be like, or at least enviously eyed a vintage suit or Joan-worthy updo.

Well, if you’ve got the means, AMC’s offering up the opportunity. The network’s auctioning off a walk-on role for season six of the series of eBay in order to raise money for charity. Included in the package is airfare (within the US) and a three-night stay at the Hilton Checkers Los Angeles for two, an opportunity to appear on cable TV’s most acclaimed (and rigorously secretive) current show and, most importantly, a costume fitting plus hair and makeup. And let’s be honest — the charity auction for a chance to be an extra on a TV series isn’t an uncommon thing, but the chance to be dolled-up in the signature garb of everyone’s favorite 1960s drama is nothing to be taken lightly.

The auction, which runs from September 20-30, will benefit the children of prop master Scott Getzinger, who worked on films like “Shutter Island,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Ocean’s Twelve” as well as the shows “Rubicon” and Showtime’s upcoming “Masters fo Sex.” The brother of “Mad Men” director Jennifer Getzinger (who helmed this past season’s premiere “A Little Kiss,” among other episodes), he passed away in April.
