Captain America And Me

Captain America And Me

It’s been a while since I paid a visit to the live taping of Doug Benson’s popular podcast Doug Loves Movies, so I did just that last week and found myself on a panel with Chris Evans (Captain America himself) and Adam Scott (of Parks and Recreation). Ever since Doug devised The Leonard Maltin Game, in which contestants try to guess the identity of a movie based on the cast names listed in Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guidein reverse order—it’s been common knowledge that I am one of its poorest players. My mind just doesn’t sort information that way… or possibly my brain is melting after seeing too many movies. But I always have a good time when I participate, because Doug and his enthusiastic audience at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in L.A. make it fun.

Doug is smart and funny, and like most of the guests he invites (among stand-up comics and actors), he’s incredibly movie-savvy. Actor and comedian Adam Scott is a perfect panelist; I could see the wheels turning as he thought out each round of the game while I floundered. He also kept us laughing nonstop. Chris Evans couldn’t be nicer, but he realized he might have signed up for a tougher competition than he bargained for, so he fortified himself with beer and fared quite well.

You can listen to this episode HERE  this week or download it, and many others for free on iTunes. You can also go to Doug’s home page at and purchase previous seasons of the show, while keeping track of Doug Benson’s tour schedule. The game has proven so popular that he often plays it on the road!
