Magnet Releasing Grabs North American Rights to Horror Flick 'Here Comes the Devil'

Magnet Releasing has grabbed North American rights to Adrian Garcia Bogliano’s “Here Comes the Devil,” which had its world premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Fantastic Fest programmer Rodney Perkins made the announcement during his introduction of the film at the Austin-based genre fest Thursday night.

In “Devil,” Francisco Barreiro and Lura Caro star as parents whose preteen son and daughter suddenly reappear after having been lost overnight on a cave-riddled mountainside during a family hike. But their happy return becomes something else as the kids’ behavior changes and the legends of the caves come to light.

Andrea Quiroz Hernandez produced.

“‘Here Comes the Devil’ is a singular, crazed trip of a movie,” said Magnet/Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles. “We’re happy to be in business with Adrian, whose short in ‘ABCs of Death’ merely whetted our appetite for this full-on dish of creeped-out mayhem.”

Magnet exec Dori Begley negotiated the deal with Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment.

The genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, Magnet has recently released “Goon,” “Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie” and “The Innkeepers.” Forthcoming releases include “V/H/S,” “The ABCs of Death” and “REC[3]: Genesis.”
