“Awesome Asian Bad Guys”
Tweetable Logline:
An 80’s-inspired action/comedy about two offbeat filmmakers, a volatile group of Asian bad guys, and an impossible mission.
Elevator Pitch:
Awesome Asian Bad Guys is a 5-episode action comedy web series that’s a cross between The Expendables and Dumb & Dumber.
The story follows two filmmakers who rush to assemble a volatile group of Asian bad guy actors to take down LA’s most nefarious mobster. But in order to pull off their tricky mission, this unpredictable batch of misfits must do the one thing they hate most – work together.
Production Team:
Directors: Stephen Dypiangco and Patrick Epino (National Film Society)
Writer/Producer: Milton Liu
Producer: Diana Williams (“Our Song”)
About the Production:
“When we were growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, we’d often see hard-hitting Asian bad guys in flicks like Die Hard, Bloodsport & Karate Kid 2. These badasses were cool, but they’d only have a 2-minute lifespan before they were killed or beaten to a pulp. It sucked that you barely saw them on screen and rarely got to know them. That’s why we want to expand upon this largely ignored slice of pop culture history by following several Asian bad guys on their own action-packed adventure – AWESOME ASIAN BAD GUYS!” – Stephen Dypiangco & Patrick Epino
