TCM 2012 Classic Film Festival To Launch in Space

Turner Classic Movies has set April 25-28 2013 as the dates for its fourth-annual TCM Classic Film Festival.  To open the festival, TCM takes this year’s theme, Cinematic Journeys: Travel in the Movies, to an extreme: TCM teamed up with NASA for an “extra-terrestrial screening” of the cult sci-fi flick “Forbidden Planet” on Saturday October 13 – both at the Kennedy Space Center as well as onboard the International Space Station, so that astronauts can also enjoy the 1956 sci-fi thriller.  The record-setting astronaut for spacewalking, Sunita Williams, will introduce the film at the screening.

The rest of the 2013 TCM Film Festival will take place back in California, where TCM film historian Robert Osborne will play host. Pricey passes for the 2013 Festival will go on sale in November and can be purchased here.
