The Film Collaborative Launches Flat-Fee Legal Services Initiative TFC Legal for Indie Filmmakers

The independent film distribution non-profit Film Collaborative has launched TFC Legal, a legal-services initiative designed to provide negotiation, business affairs and contract assistance to filmmakers in the process of cutting distribution deals. The services will be offered for a flat fee by Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson LLP.

“The key to this initiative is that it is only focused on distribution agreements, our specialty and the focus of our mission,” said Film Collaborative founder and co-executive director Orly Ravid. “This new service pairs our expertise in distribution, particularly digital distribution, with AGMB’s extensive experience in entertainment law, in order to achieve the best results for TFC clients. Digital distribution has become the new paradigm and we want to make sure our members and clients are aware of all the rights and licensing issues that now have to be addressed.”

TFC Legal will advise clients on the precise rights that are being sold to distributors on which platforms, while leaving rights in the creators’ hands.
