Tribeca Film has acquired North American rights to the thriller “No Rest For The Wicked,” from Spanish director Enrique Urbizu. The distributor plans a December release across multiple VOD platforms, including iTunes, Amazon, VUDU and Xbox.
The film, which is currently playing at Austin-based Fantastic Fest and which swept the Goya Awards last February, tells the story of Santos Trinidad, a dirty cop who must track down a witness to his crimes while dodging the police’s investigation.
“The film combines outstanding craftsmanship with vivid performances, led by the fearless José Coronado,” said Tribeca Enterprises chief creative officer Geoff Gilmore, “culminating in a wonderfully conceived metaphorical examination of morals in our current day and age.”
Nick Savva of Tribeca Film negotiated the deal with Ivan Diaz of Filmax in Spain on behalf of the filmmakers.
Some current and upcoming Tribeca Film releases include “Side by Side,” “How to Make Money Selling Drugs” and “The Fitzgerald Family Christmas.”
