Watch: Pilot For Jon Favreau/J.J. Abrams World-Without-Electricity Series 'Revolution' Lands Online

Similar to Joss Whedon‘s recent ascension to geek god, writer/producer J.J. Abrams has successfully spun his name into a brand that, when paired with a new project or concept, immediately casts an expectation of mystery and excitement into the audiences’ mind. Even with the shadow of “Lost” lurking over every TV project that Abrams has touched, he’s still managed to string together a series of intriguing hits (“Person of Interest”) and misses (“Alcatraz”), and now in preparation for his latest foray back into the high-concept ring, “Revolution,” he’s eager to let everyone get an early taste of what’s on offer.

NBC has put the entire pilot for the show, which boasts Eric Kriptke (“Supernatural”) as showrunner and Jon Favreau directing the pilot, up on Hulu for viewing, as they’re obviously thrilled with the talent onboard the project, and they should be. The show imagines a world where all technology simply ceases to function, and TVs, computers, and cars lose their use in the world. As the series picks up 15 years later, society’s definitely headed toward a post-apocalyptic front, but the Matheson family (comprised of leads Billy Burke and Tracy Spiriakos) find themselves locked in a race to find an amulet which could bring everything back to normal.

“Revolution” already received a series order back in May, so its fate is known for the near future at least, but it will need to keep consistency beyond a solid pilot to stop from falling into the traps of Abrams’ other recent show, “Alcatraz.” Any show that makes use of Giancarlo Esposito deserves a glance though, so click on over to Hulu to watch the full thing before the show’s premiere on September 17th.
