With the artwork and extras finally locked down for the upcoming Blu-Ray release of “Prometheus,” one little tidbit of info you likely won’t find on the upcoming release is an explanation on why Ridley Scott chose to shoot on RED.
Of course, from its earliest incarnation, Scott had planned to shoot the film in 3D, which more or less means going digital, but as he explains to RED, it was watching David Fincher‘s “The Social Network” that convinced him theirs were the camera to use. He shares how watching a nighttime sequence from the film that moves from the outdoors of the university campus at night and ends inside at a party, and Scott was amazed to learn that Fincher was able to use the natural light sources with RED for the dynamically changing visuals of the scene, without any additional boosting or help.
