Wrekin Hill Entertainment has acquired the romantic drama “While We Were Here,” the sophomore effort of writer-director Kat Coiro. The film marks the reunion of Coiro and Kate Bosworth, who starred in Coiro’s debut film “L!fe Happens.”
“While We Were Here” stars Bosworth and Iddo Goldberg as a married couple who visit the Italian island of Ischia on a business trip. The film, which had its premiere in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival, depicts Jane’s trials as a young writer and her romantic affair with an Ischia native played by Jamie Blackley.
“Coiro has crafted a beautiful film that will instantly send audiences running to Ischia on their next vacation,” said Wrekin Hill president Chris Ball. “This is the best Kate Bosworth performance I have ever seen.”
Ball solidified his reputation by producing such indie classics as ‘Memento,’ ‘Donnie Darko’ and ‘Monster’ at Newmarket Films, along with creative partner and Wrekin Hill co-founder Rene Cogan.
Wrekin Hill has recently released “The Way Back,” “Hesher” and “The Flowers of War.”
