ARC Entertainment has acquired domestic theatrical and home entertainment rights to “Family Weekend.” The feature film debut of both director Benjamin Epps and writer Matt K. Turner, “Family Weekend” stars Kristin Chenoweth, Matthew Modine and Olesya Rulin of the “High School Musical” franchise.
Rulin plays Emily, a 16-year-old who holds her unsupportive, workaholic parents hostage for a weekend in an attempt to gain their attention and bring the family closer together. Chenoweth plays her mother, an ambitious, high-strung business executive, and Modine fills the role of Emily’s carefree artist father. Adam Saunders and Chris Aronoff of Footprint Features produced, in association with the Bedford Falls Company and executive producer Youmi N. Ma.
“We’re excited to add this unconventional family comedy to our roster,” said ARC Entertainment’s Rich Goldberg. “With star power of actors like Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Modine and the break out performance by Olesya Rulin, ‘Family Weekend’ is a sure hit.”
Goldberg negotiated the acquisition along with Peter Jarowey and The Film Sales Company’s Andrew Herwitz.
ARC Entertainment’s recent releases include “Nitro Circus,” “The Way,” “Seven Days in Utopia,” “Red Dog,” “For Greater Glory” and “Senna.”
