First Round of Panels Announced for SXSW 2013; Introducing Startup Alley, Come & Capture Film Factory

SXSW has released the first round of panels for its 2013 edition. The festival will be celebrating 20 years this March 8-16 in Austin, Texas.

Along with the panels, workshops and Digital Domain sessions, two new Conference tracks are launching: Startup Alley (a day of programming focusing on startup entrepreneurs and investors) and Come & Capture Film Factory (to explore the newest tools in capturing and creating content).

Fest producer Janet Pierson state:  “As the lines between film and technology continue to blur, SXSW Film remains ahead of the curve as we host digital creatives from across all fields,..Hands on and immersive, these new programs are designed to facilitate creative combustion affecting every facet of making, distributing, and enjoying great filmmaking.”

Complete festival programming will be announced early 2013.

SXSW Film Startup Alley

Sunday, March 10, 2013 // Located at the Austin Convention Center
Engaging panels and unique networking opportunities with trailblazing entrepreneurs and expert investors, as well as demos from some new and exciting disruptive film and television startups. A day of panels with seasoned entrepreneurs and renowned entertainment investors, tailored to Film and Television Startups looking for clients and funding, as well as investors looking to discover the next trend in entertainment startups.

Connecting potential collaborators, investors and clients all in one room, including established and rising filmmakers and some of the most innovative entrepreneurs in the business.

•    Startup Alley’s Launchpad (Demo Space)
Featuring exhibitor tables and demos by innovative startups, the Startup Launchpad will generate buzz-making moments and host the companies that will change the face of entertainment.

•    Party!
The culmination of Startup Alley’s Launchpad, top entertainment entrepreneurs and investors will mix and mingle over drinks at this casual, uniquely SXSW un-networking event. Featuring exciting competitions as well as exhibitor tables and demos by game-changing startups.  

Come & Capture Film Factory

Saturday, March 9 – Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 11:00am–6:00pm daily //
Located at the Stephen F. Austin Intercontinental Hotel (Capital Ballroom, Section B)
Explore and interact with the newest tools for capturing and creating content. Each day will begin with panel discussions, workshops, and demos, and round out with the opportunity for registrants to tinker with a pavilion of products. Registrants are encouraged to come in to sample a range of filmmaking products, go out each day and capture their experiences at SXSW, and share their finished work with the SXSW community through SXSW’s online channels, including the official festival website.
