The Nantucket Film Festival’s board of directors announced Thursday that Mystelle Brabbee, who has served for the last decade as the festival’s artistic director, will next year assume the role of festival director.
“Mystelle Brabbee has been the creative spark behind sixteen successful festivals and has earned this opportunity,” said board chair Kathleen Matthews, referring to the additional six years Brabbee spent as film program director. “With Mystelle’s deep ties with the island community, her creative vision for the festival and with a strong staff, we are poised to move forward with exciting new programming for the Nantucket Film Festival.”
Brabbee will replace Colin Stanfield, who stepped down in August after serving four years as director. Festival planners expect that Brabbee’s appointment will permit the NFF to promote several long-time staffers and allow it to “better serve the needs of an organization expanding its operations to include year-round programming.”
The 18th annual Nantucket Film Festival is scheduled for June 26-30, 2013.
