“…Even That Void”
Genre busting sci-fi musical eco-documentary set in the Arctic of the future.
Using real footage of a group of Artists on a tall-ship expedition to the Arctic, we have remained them as being sent – in the future – to recreate the landscape after it has been destroyed by climate change. But with no blueprints or solid reference to how it once was, this motley crew must rebuild everything according to their mixed up memories and their emotional connection to the landscape.
With the odds of success stacked against them, will the team fail in their mission? Or will art save the Arctic…?
Director & Cinematographer: Saeed Taji Farouky
Producer: Marie-Therese Garvey
Co-Producer: John Arvid Berger (Jabfilm – Norway)
Editor: Gareth Keogh
In Collaboration With: Anita Doron (Canada)
About the Production:
The film was motivated by an overwhelming compulsion to address environmental protection, and the realisation that many documentaries about environmentalism can’t get beyond academics and politics. …Even That Void is our attempt to re-connect humanism, morality and passion to the ecological movement.
Rather than looking at our influence on the environment, our film examines the environment’s influence on us – emotionally, psychologically and ethically.
