ro*co Films' Catalog Available Through iTunes, Including Oscar-Winning Doc 'Born Into Brothels'

Oscar-winning documentary “Born Into Brothels,” a gritty 2004 portrayal of life in Calcutta’s red light district, is now digitally available for the first time through iTunes. The film represents the first of documentary distributor ro*co films’ catalog to be made accessible via the iTunes store as a result of a new partnership with the British philanthropic group the Bertha Foundation, that has signed on to cover digital encoding costs.

All 100 of ro*co’s titles will hit the web in the coming months.

Next up for online release is FilmBuff’s “We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists,” due Oct. 30, to be followed by “How to Survive a Plague,” the story of the advocates that played an instrumental role in improving prospects for AIDS treatment in the 1980s. ro*co’s roster includes 11 Oscar-nominated or Oscar-winning films, including “Jesus Camp” and “Saving Face.”

Through its partnership with Bertha, ro*co will now make its content digitally available in more than 20 countries.
