Watch: Adam Scott and Jon Hamm Recreate the 'Simon & Simon' Opening Credits

What is “The Greatest Event in Television History”? As host Jeff Probst helpfully explains, it is “a shot-for-shot recreation of the opening title sequence of the 1980s television show ‘Simon & Simon’ with ‘Mad Men”s Jon Hamm and ‘Parks and Recreation”s Adam Scott.” Other stars include “director” Paul Rudd, who claims Gus Van Sant’s “Psycho” as an inspiration and notes that he hired Scott accidentally — he was hoping for Aziz Ansari.

“The Greatest Event in Television History” is also an elaborately weird Adult Swim special that was tucked into the TV schedule late last week at midnight after the Vice Presidential debates, which were a pretty nifty television event themselves. You can watch the whole 11 and a half minute show online below. It spoofs awards and behind-the-scene specials while also delivering exactly the recreation promised. While “greatest” may be setting the bar a little high, it is pretty funny.
