As Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” theaterical release approaches, Twentieth Century Fox Film has released a behind-the-scenes featurette of the film. “Life of Pi” will open in 3D and 2D theaters on November 21.
“Life of Pi” follows Pi, a shipwrecked sixteen-year-old boy, who finds his real journey begin on a lifeboat with an orangutan, hyena, zebra and a Bengal tiger.
“As I was writing the book — cinematic as it was in my mind — I thought, ‘This is a completely unfilmable story,'” says Yann Martel, author of the novel that inspired the film, in the clip. The behind-the-scenes footage also includes insight from the film’s director, Ang Lee — the man whose imagination and expertise was able to bring the book to the big screen.
