Emmy nominee Lena Dunham has been getting quite political of late, having appeared in this week’s “You Don’t Own Me” anti-Republican PSA, and now today in another Barack Obama-endorsing video, in which she stresses that your “first time” should be with a “great guy” (wink, wink).
The video’s charming as hell and sure to appeal to the target demographic (namely college kids) the Democrats are going for, since it recalls the wise-cracking tone of Sarah Silverman’s explicit indecent proposal video, in which Silverman does her best to persuade casino magnate Sheldon Adelson to donate $100 million to Obama instead of Mitt Romney.
One thing that may leave even her biggest fans scratching their heads: In the video, Dunham says, “My first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand — first I was a girl, now I was a woman. I voted for Barack Obama.” Slate was wise to point out that Dunham, who was born May 13, 1986, could have voted for John Kerry in 2004 but apparently didn’t. Guess she was waiting for a “great guy.”
